12:05 am Unhappy Endings by bibliophile_42 (PG-13)
Fandom: TWILIGHT
Pairing: Jacob/Bella
Length: Mid-length one shot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] bibliophile_42
Author Website: fic journal - [livejournal.com profile] papermoon42
Why this must be read:

Oh, I love this fic.
This is a compilation of pain and things that hurt so much it burns. I've re-read it so many times, and every time it leaves me a messy pile of tragedy. Plus, it has references to Sylvia Plath poetry (Lady Lazarus) and Margaret Atwood's short story, "Happy Endings," one of my favorite short stories ever. All of this pushes it over the edge into epic win category. It was nearly impossible to pick an excerpt, because my favorite parts are so many and so BIG and oh, just read it please.

12:33 am But for the Grace by kroki refur (PG-13)

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL
Pairing: Gen. Dean Winchester, Alternate Sam Winchester, Sam Winchester
Length: Novel
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kroki_refur
Author Website: Author’s LJ
Why this must be read:

Sam is behaving bizarrely – drinking heavily, no memory of Dean or demon-hunting. Dean assumes that Sam’s the one with the problem. Slowly Dean comes to understand that he himself is the one with the problem. The Winchesters’ nemesis, the Yellow-Eyed Demon, has sidelined him in an alternate reality. With obvious difficulty, Dean enlists the aid of the alcoholic, bitter, hopeless, friendless – but still intellectually brilliant – Alt Sam.

In the major sub-plot, Dean tries frantically and clumsily to help Alt Sam. The clock is ticking. Dean has to get back in time to save “his” Sam from the Yellow-Eyed Demon, yet dreads what will become of Alt Sam once he leaves. It doesn’t look like Dean can manage to save them both, or can he?

12:46 am Road that drives away by sheherazade (PG-13)

Fandom: SUPERNATURAL
Pairing: Slash, fantasy. Someone who might or might not be Dean Winchester/someone who might or might not be Sam Winchester
Length: Short
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ihearthings_ii
Author Website: LJ
Why this must be read:

It’s a road trip, but the initial elation devolves into something sinister and manic. Weird and dreamy. A “Twilight Zone” feel.

The characters are never named in the story, and to me, the characters were Dean and a hitchhiker who reminds him of Sam; or Sam hitching a ride with a man who reminds him of Dean.

It seems to me that the story is taking place after the boys defeated the Yellow-Eyed Demon, and that one of them had died (and stayed dead).

01:30 am Rebirth of the Future by Seven o'Nine (PG)
Fandom: EARTH: FINAL CONFLICT
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: none that I'm aware of
Author Website: http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/sevensrealm/
Why this must be read:

Seven has a simple and yet somehow lyrical quality to her stories. I always think of them as very peaceful to read (even when she includes more action-oriented content in her stories). They have that slightly unearthly quality that always drew me to the show.

This story takes place after the season four finale, as Liam and the Taelons awaken on a volcanic island, they have to make decisions about their future. People change, and even Zo'or gets a chance to find his own sort of peace in a way that I can see as being the only possibility in the aftermath of what happened to the character in season four.

Unfortunately, it's only posted in its entirety on this forum board, so you'll have to skip through a lot of the feedback posts between parts, and the story itself it split across three threads (all linked here) due to the limitations of the forum, but it is well worth the effort to sort through it all.

03:13 am The Wish by Lady Ra (NC-17)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 120K
Author on LJ: [personal profile] ladyra
Author Website: http://www.visionsofprettyboys.com
Why this must be read:   Can changing one thing in your life change your entire life? The talented Lady Ra explores this question in one of the best “turning point” stories I’ve ever read.

In the episode Remembrance, we discover that a 12-year-old Jim had witnessed a murder. Since his enhanced eyesight provided the details, the cops didn’t believe him and the murderer wasn’t caught. “The Wish” starts as the episode ends.  Blair comes home to a drunk Jim, who has just found out that his dad knew all about his senses but discouraged them. He’s angry and depressed at what he sees as lost opportunities to help people and to be a happier man. When Blair offers to help, Jim makes a wish:

"I wish you'd been there," Jim said again. "You would have believed me. If there'd been someone like you investigating Bud's death, you would have listened to what a twelve-year-old had to say."

Blair hoped that was true. "I wish I'd been there for you, too, Jim. I'm sorry that no one was. I'm sorry you had to go through that alone, losing someone that important to you, and then being forced to deny what you knew and what you were."

It was odd to think of how many strung together moments comprised a life. Moments where something so seemingly insignificant happened that caused you to go left instead of right, or to look that way instead of this way, or have that thought instead of this thought. Moments that added onto other moments and suddenly you were living this life instead of that life.

There’s a saying “Be careful what you wish for…” Both Blair and Jim get the opportunity to experience it.
Father’s Day Alert!!! William (Jim’s dad) makes a guest appearance!

10:56 am In Which Ace and Hex Done Sex by Kesomon (unrated, but isn't adul)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: None
Length: 306 words
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: Kesomon's fics on Teaspoon
Why this must be read:Kesomon points out at the top of the story that it's crack and it is: good crack. It does involve moving events around a bit to make it work, but the payoff is worth it. No excerpt for this one, and I am avoiding saying much about the story because it is so short that anything I do say would give the whole thing away. Just bear in mind that the title and the summary may or may not be misleading.

06:38 pm Not As I Do, by Ijemanja (NC-17)
Fandom: HOUSE MD
Pairing: Cuddy/Foreman
Length: 1000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ijemanja
Author Website: LJ memories
Why this must be read:

How about a slice of hotness for my second rec of the month? Here's a rarepair done in fine form, with Foreman and Cuddy (to my mind) both repressing how they feel about House: and repressing it in the best possible way, with porn. They're both in character, which means this isn't about love or unicorns or rainbows. It's about being right, and getting what they want, and bantering along the way.
