Why this must be read: There are more stories about Obi-Wan living on Tatooine and finally meeting Force ghost Qui-Gon, but this story has two things extra. First of all, I love her take on the PT as seen through Qui-Gon's eyes; I wholeheartedy agree with it. And second, Qui-Gon is more than a blue shimmering image of himself, he's truly a part of the Force and potboy manages to make that perfectly clear, through beautiful imagery and also through what Qui-Gon reveales to Obi-Wan. It's short, but it's stunning.

Fandom: LIFE ON MARS Pairing: Sam Tyler/Gene Hunt Length: ~4300 words Author on LJ: t_eyla Author Website: Rosetta Stoned Why this must be read: I love Stephen Warren. Though he's only in one episode (like most LoM villains), he is my absolute favorite. His episode (1.04, no official names for LoM episodes, unfortunately), is a significant turning point in Sam and Gene's (canon) relationship and one that establishes just what kind of coppers Sam and Gene are. So, I'm immediately drawn to any fic that involves Stephen Warren and his potential retaliation against Sam - the only police officer unafraid to bring him down. I love 36 Hours because t_eyla makes Sam's torture and PTSD believable and utterly compelling. It shows what could have been the consequences of Sam standing up to Warren, while still leaving us a glimmer of hope at the end. The author warns for violence and rape. 36 Hours | | |

Fandom:Psych Pairing: Shawn/Lassiter Length: Short Author on LJ: lipstickcat@lj Author website: unknown Why this must be read: Sometimes G-rated is a good thing. Sometimes it's perfect for what a story is trying to show us. This is an understated story that says a lot without saying anything directly. Shawn has been hurt and is in the hospital, and Lassiter doesn't like how that feels. In fact, Lassiter needs to know he's okay, even if he doesn't know exactly why. So he's a little hesitant, especially since if Shawn were feeling better, he'd make a bigger deal out of the unexpected concern. But Shawn isn't feeling better. And the way he reacts to Lassiter in this story, quiet though it is, is absolutely precious. If anything, this story is just about that moment. They don't talk, of course not, and there's nothing sugary sweet. All there is, is a gorilla in an evening dress, a red rubber ball, and, hopefully, some crayons. Red Ball | | |

Fandom: BANDOM Pairing: Jepha Howard/Dan Whitesides Length: ~19500 Author on LJ: sinsenseAuthor Website: Sinsense's fic tagWhy this must be read: This fic looks at the time when The Used was transitioning between Brendan and Dan, and how that might have played out for Jepha, who was still friends with Brendan after the split. Sinsense's characterizations are always so sharp, and the way the characters relate to each other through both dialogue and action is the kind of thing that makes you laugh and wince and more than occasionally go, "yeah, been there." This fic has a BDSM element, and that is in and of itself incredibly hot, but it's also interesting in what it tells the reader about the participants. "Billy," the prince said, sticking out a hand. Of course, only his brother actually called him Billy, but Dori didn't need to know that. He had to be new, if he didn't know who William was, and in the prince's mind, this was not a bad thing.
