Length: App. 20,000 words

Why this must be read:  I don't have the words to do this story justice.  All I can say is that if you pinned me down and told me I had to pick one story that illustrated my love for this show and these characters, this story would be that one.

Hello again! I grabbed the keys again and this time, this van is getting a new paint job, for sure. What? You don't like red with a white stripe? Well, then try this story out instead.

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: @230k
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] morganlogan
Author Website: Agent Molo's
Why this must be read:

Starsky is still recovering from the attempt on his life. When he's faced with not only living a life of emptiness but having that emptiness made fully hollow by losing the presence of his best friend, he turns things around and truly learns what it means to fly.

But the doc asks, his voice really mild, "Dave, do you have feelings for Hutch?"
What a question. Sure, I have feelings for Hutch. Lots of 'em, and all of them different. I feel he's the best friend I'll ever have. I feel like sometimes I could kill him when he gets that stubborn look on his face and won't tell me what's going on with him. I feel disgusted when I look into the back seat of his car. And sometimes I feel, when we're sitting next to each other on the couch watching an old movie, and he makes some dumb joke like I just knew he was gonna, that he's all I need in this crummy world.

Why this must be read: Because it's funny and great, and it has unicorns (which shouldn't work but it does). With some great Duncan and Methos interaction.

Hi, everyone. I'm [livejournal.com profile] musegaarid and I'm pretty new to the dueSouth fandom. This is also my first time ever driving the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van. I blame [livejournal.com profile] innocentsmith for both of these things.

I tend to prefer medium-length plotty stories and creative genre stuff. You won't see any PWPs here. And I generally ship Fraser/Kowalski, but I'm good with Vecchio/Kowalski and Fraser/Vecchio/Kowalski, too.

So, all that said... enjoy!

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Length: 5,600 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] seperis
Author Website: Indulgence
Why this must be read:

This story makes me impossibly happy. Ray has an epiphany. There is banter. The subtext isn't so much subtext as it is explicitly stated, but it's all in asides (mostly). It all has that kooky, dream-like, contradictory feel of the very best episodes, expertly balancing silliness with seriousness. The story reminds us that the two main personalities of the show are ultimately rather bizarre outsiders, though they relate to each other beautifully here over the course of one protracted argument. Ray's thoughts sneak up on him as swiftly and unexpectedly as they do us and every single line is hysterically funny. Just... read it. It'll make more sense then. Maybe.

What's that word for sudden, life changing revelation? )

Hello everybody, I'm back to drive the Man from UNCLE crack van for the second time. I hope you enjoy the drive, I'll try to vary the recs a little, I read slash and gen (even if I do tend towards slash most of the time *g*) but I have to have good banter between the guys and a semi-plausible plot. Well, if the UNCLE writers can legitimately try to pass of "death by hiccups" in one episode, I'm pretty sure the fans can come up with better LOL

On with the show!

Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 2,803 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cousinnat
Author Website: The wonderful archive at Chrome and Gunmetal Madhouse has some, as does File 40
Why this must be read:

This fic features canon UNCLE villains, which I always love. The marvellously evil Dr. Egret makes an appearance in this one, and hypnotises Illya. This fic has snark, humour and captures the essense of the boys' relationship even without the slash part. They quip at each other exactly how they do in the episodes and even though there's no real plot, it's a hoot to read.

Here's an excerpt:

Serena came to my side and shoved my sleeve above my biceps. There was no possibility of escaping whatever they had planned for me, so I simply concentrated on making my mind a blank. I winced as Egret shoved the needle into my arm none too gently, then seated herself in front of me in a chair that matched my own. She stared into my eyes and appeared to grit her teeth in order to speak in a gentle tone.

"Now listen closely, Illya. I want you to relax and listen to my voice. Only my voice."

They must be joking.
