06:20 pm Le Roman de la Starren, or The Evil Ex-Boyfriend's Tale by anadapta0801 (R)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Doctor/Master (Five/Ainley!Master)
Length: 1,300 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] anadapta0801
Author Website: Fic tag
Why this must be read:

It's a Doctor/Master fic written in Middle English verse. With a parallel translation in modern English.

No, really.

Specifically, it's a Five/Ainley!Master crack fic written in 15th century West Midlands dialect rhyming couplets. And the story is impressively in keeping with the time period: there's a rose garden involved, and references to Catholic dogma; there are bawdy metaphors, and turtle-doves, and dodgy consent. And a questionable moral at the end.

It's pretty darn amazing.

With an nosegay of celerye, Whych he observed bemusedlye. )

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: 30K
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jat_sapphire
Author website: Most of her fic is here: http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/author.php?authorid=19
Why this must be read:

Pretty much everything by Jat Sapphire must be read, but this fic in particular is a delight. The guys have just had sex for the first time. They struggle to keep from letting the whole world know. Starsky feels like he has "a big neon tattoo across my forehead: "Finally Laid Hutch. And across my back a sign that said, "And It Was So, So, SO Good." But he's not complaining, and neither is Blondie.

This fic makes me grin, big time.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Dief/PIZZA (background Fraser/Kowalski)
Length: 481 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda
Author Website: Kernezelda
Why this must be read:

Because it's in my top five Dief-narrated fics, and because it's hilarious.

Many in due South fandom enjoy writing from Dief's perspective, and the results are often nothing short of outstanding and even innovative in terms of voice and style. I admire anyone who takes on the challenge of writing from Dief's perspective and produces fic this great, mainly because Dief has such a unique role in the show and we only ever "hear" his side of things through Fraser's responses to him. Getting just the right blend of canine and smartass can be difficult, but when it's done well, it's truly impressive.

In conclusion, Dief/PIZZA.

Also, there's a remix to this fic called Ode to a Sumptuous Supper (The Doggerel Half-Wolferel Remix), and it's actually how I found the original fic. This 100-word ode is so stupidly cool I had to tag it on my delicious page as both "pairing:fraser/kowalski" and "awesome."
