Fandom: SANCTUARY Pairing: none Length: 1,766 words Author on LJ: jedibuttercupAuthor Website: jedibuttercup.com, Fic IndexWhy this must be read: The reason I'm reccing this fic is because it puts forth a rather clever idea that I haven't seen in any other fics and it totally works for me. I won't spoil it for you, other than to tell you that it's about a relationship between one of The Five and Will. This fic has totally changed the way I view the show! That Which Remains

Fandom: SANCTUARY Pairing: none Length: 1,300 words Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: The Blue Raven @ ff.netWhy this must be read: I admit to watching too much Primeval, because the second I read this title I *needed* to read it lol (so when are they going to use the Wilhelm Scream on Sanctuary?) Set in Season 1, Will "New Guy" Zimmerman gets hazed and it's hilarious, I would have loved to see this on the show. And for those of you who miss Steve, he makes a welcome appearance in this fic. That Calls For a Wilhelm Scream

Fandom: PRIMEVAL Pairing: None, but focuses on Nick and Stephen Length: 6,000 Author on LJ: reggietate Author Website: None Why this must be read: The relationship between Nick Cutter and hi assistant, Stephen Hart, is central to the first two series of Primeval, and in this story the author takes a very believable, down to earth, approach to the breakdown of that relationship and explores what might have been if they had been along together long enough to start really talking. Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: John/Sherlock Length: 14,050 words Author on LJ: etothepiiAuthor Website: More of this author's excellent stories can be found here. Why this must be read:Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a great believer in spiritualism and thus supernatural fusions in the various incarnations of the Sherlock Holmes fandom are prevalent. This particular story is one of the best I have come across in the genre in the Sherlock fandom. The author takes the premise that John is a ghost whom Sherlock is communicating with and just runs with it. It isn't sensationalistic or eerie... it's presented as a bit ordinary, rather like John, although this is NOT a everyone-knows-about-the-supernatural type of universe. This story is entirely cute and sweet and lovely. I love that Sherlock's reaction to ghost!John is that Mycroft will be jealous and it will be really useful to have a ghost help him with his work. Do go and check out this author's other stories, as they are all brilliant, particularly the werewolf one and the Good Omens fusion and the D/s one and... oh just go read them all. Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: Sherlock/Mycroft Length: a bit under 6,000 words Author on LJ: kirakira_nanodaAuthor Website: More of this author's work can be found on their LiveJounral. I suggest going through their tags. Why this must be read:While a rare pairing, there does seem to be an unusually high amount of incest fic in the Sherlock fandom, possibly because Mycroft and Sherlock are just so DIFFERENT from normal people. In this fic, Mycroft does something he's never done before -- he makes a mistake. That mistake costs someone his life and the result is that Mycroft is shattered. Sherlock puts him back together. The writing is in-character and evocative, bringing a subtle depth of feeling to both brothers, emotionally stunted though they are. Highly recommended! Of umbrellas and heroes

Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: Gen; Reporter, Nate Fick Length: ~ 1,500 words Author on LJ: romanticalgirlAuthor websites: Why this must be read: I love characters dealing with the things that happened to them, and going to war, seeing it, living it, this is something to be dealt with. I really like Reporter's voice here, how he tries to make sense of everything. How he turns to Fick. Loved their conversation, very realistic and in character. Reversed Charges

Fandom: CHUCK Pairing: Bryce/Chuck Length: one-shot Author on LJ: -- Author Website: -- Why this must be read: It's yuletide time again, and I'm glad to have found two lovely Chuck fics amongst the many entries that I can now rec to you fresh out of the oven. This fic about Bryce trying to come on to Chuck in the Stanford era is both cute and amusing: Trying to kill two birds with one stone, he decides to practice the spy stuff on Chuck, which of course doesn't quite work out as planned. Fandom: CHUCK Pairing: Diane Beckman/Roan Montgomery Length: one-shot Author on LJ: -- Author Website: -- Why this must be read: I'm so pleased to have found such a great fic about General Beckman that I can now point out to you. This is the character piece I've always wanted to read about Beckman, the one that explains to me who she is and how she came to be that way - all the while entertaining me greatly, when it would be really easy to be boring. It's gen much more than het, so you should read this even if the pairing shouldn't float your boat. Three Times Diane Beckman Met Roan Montgomery (and One Time She Didn't)

Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: Joan/Sherlock (gender-swaped John/Sherlock) Length: 17,260 words Author on LJ: parachute_silksAuthor Website: More fiction in this vein can be found on the journal linked above. Why this must be read:This story manages to keep all the personality traits and characterization of the show right, while making both main characters believably female. Over the course of the story, I stopped seeing the male versions of the characters and really saw what they would be like if circumstances had made them women. Very good read. Categories

Fandom: WAREHOUSE 13 Pairing: Myka/H.G.Wells Length: 4192 Author on LJ: hopefulnebula
Why this must be read:Myka/H.G is almost canon and I know a lot of people were ticked off when H.G went evil again. This lighthearted look at the beginning of H.G. and Myka's relationship is a must read for anybody who was hoping for more in the show. As HopefulNebula says herself, this story is canon compliant and it shows. The Beginning of Something by HopefulNebula

Welcome to True Blood! I wanna do bad things to you, and even if I didn’t - a large host of the characters would. True Blood is a tv show based of the book series The Southern Vampire Mysteries (also known as the Sookie Stackhouse Verse) by Charlaine Harris, but I wouldn’t compare the two too much. I would give you the IMDB summary but that’s a tad short so we’re going with mine. Why should you enjoy the show? Because it is all that is snark, camp and gay as all get out in the tv world of today. Well, that and the profuse amount of naked well built bodies having prodigious amounts of sex on camera. ( Character Overviews and possible spoilers )

Fandom: The Losers Pairing: Jensen/Jolene/Pooch, Jensen/Cougar Length: 8,109 Author on LJ: snarkcasmAuthor's Website: Fanfiction.net accountWhy this must be read:The obligatory high school AU, but not what you would expect. In this story, everyone's over 18, and the only actual student is Cougar. Jensen, Pooch and Roque are teachers, Jolene's the guidance counsellor, Clay's the principal, and Aisha is one of the smoothest educational consultants you've ever seen. It's a bit flawed towards the end, and the love between Jensen and Cougar is unrequited, but the Jensen/Jolene/Pooch threesome more than makes up for it, because it's a delight. I love that this story takes the high school AU and doesn't bog it down in the clichéd dramarama of teenage hormones, instead focusing on the fabulous dramarama of adult hormones. It's a little gem of a story. Excerpt:There's something about Carlos Alvarez that creeps him out—the kid's way too intense. And, from where he's standing, Alvarez isn't doing anything; his screen is totally blank. Both girls on either side of him lean into his workspace and try to chat him up. Alvarez just smiles crookedly and one of them softly squeals, blushes, and returns to her computer. The other one is aggressive and leans into him.
Jensen wants to be the cool, slightly eccentric, teacher, so he doesn't outright embarrass Alvarez. He just politely and professionally writes him an email about staying behind after class and knows that Alvarez got the message loud and clear when dark eyes meet his again. Jensen tries not to squirm in his seat.Surrender, Surrender (But Don't Give Yourself Away)

Fandom: SHERLOCK Pairing: Molly Hooper/DI Lestrade Length: 4,800 words Author on LJ: seren_ccdAuthor Website: You can find more of this author's Sherlock fics through her LiveJournal tags here. Why this must be read:Sherlock has a positive dearth of female characters (basically, it's Sarah, Sally, Molly, and "Anthea" plus various episodic villains and victims, all having very little real screentime), so I really enjoy it when fandom deigns to make up for that lack (where are Irene and Mary?!). Molly is a puzzling one. She seems like such a simpering little floormat on the show, but sometimes she has these flashes of something deeper. This story? Delves deeper, while still keeping Molly's essentially sweet and slightly pathetic personality intact. I also love how this author portrays Lestrade and Sherlock, the gentleman and the cad. Good, heartwarming read. ( Here, have a taste of the story... )The Breeze Deep on the Inside

Fandom: RAFFLES Pairing: A.J. Raffles/Bunny Manders Length: 1,153 words Author on LJ: jj_minervaAuthor Website: AO3Why this must be read:This story is part of " The Secret Memoirs of Bunny Manders" and serves as the sequel to Brave Little Rabbit, but both stories can stand alone on their own. In the original tales, Bunny frequently describes Raffles's love of his favourite cigarette brand, the Sullivan, which is also called "an Egyptian" by other writers of the Victorian era. Naturally as his elder, Raffles takes it upon himself to teach Bunny how to properly smoke such a fine cigarette. And naturally smoking rather equates itself to other pastimes. Smoking
