Fandom: White Collar RPS Pairing: Matt Bomer/Tim DeKay Length: ~15k Author on LJ: angelita26Author Website: Angelita’s Master List Why this must be read:This story is “real person fiction,” which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if it makes it go down any easier, the characters are placed in an AU where Matt Bomer owns a bookstore and Tim DeKay a customer that wanders in one day and they basically fall in love at first sight. It’d be a typical rom-com type of setup (and the writer is hella-talented, so never a disappointment), but there is an added twist that makes it all the more interesting: Matt is, in fact, disabled. From there, the story becomes a charming depiction of the complications that come out of someone who has never had to deal with a differently-abled person, and the difficulties (and joys) that can bring to them both. The details of this particular fic, especially of the setting does a fantastic job of conveying the mood. Esca has gone to trade for horses and Marcus waits for him to return home but as time passes he begins to lose hope. The vivid descriptions of the oncoming winter as Marcus quietly despairs at Esca not returning are beautifully written and as a reader you can feel his loneliness and pain. Her stores are complicated mysteries that always take Mulder and Scully on an equally complex emotional journey.
