Title: Making the Rounds by Poison Ivory
Pairing: N/A
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] poisonivory
Author Website: Non-DC fic at Tickety Boo; DC at [livejournal.com profile] _ticketyboo and user's LJ
Why this must be read:

Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital: meet the Teen Titans. Oh, except they're not the Teen Titans; they're just a bunch of random kids. That whole thing where they got caught up in an explosion, but aren't showing any injuries? That was just luck.

Really.

Honest!

House. Horny teen superheroes. There is nothing here not to love.

Author Website: Wizard at Work
Why this must be read: You'll laugh, you'll giggle, you'll know this was a crossover that was meant to be since I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought that the temple ruins in "Kobol's Last Gleaming" looked ripe for a little Stargate-style exploration. Here that idea's taken to a perfect conclusion:

Throwing Waffles Through Hoops by victoria p.
Pairing: Remus Lupin/Dan Rydell
Author on LJ:[livejournal.com profile] musesfool
Author Website: Achromatic
Why this must be read:

Sports Night and Harry Potter isn't a crossover that would spring to most people's minds (although you know for sure that in the non-crossover world, Dan, at least, has read the books). Once someone's pointed it out, though, it becomes obvious that, yes, of course Jeremy's a wizard and yes, of course Isaac would have contacts in the wizarding world. And, if Dan and Remus Lupin ever met then yes, of course they would end up in bed together. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] musesfool for bringing it to our attention!

Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing: Harry Potter/Severus Snape
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon
Author Website: Ellen Fremedon's Fanfic

Why this must be read:
I love this sort of Snape/Harry story: unromantic but intense, based on need and understanding and, yes, the hot male/male sex. It hits some major buttons for me in this fandom: almost-adult Harry, lots of serious plot, inventive use of magic, war-time, comfort sex, well-handled appearances by other characters (no bashing), and cranky, ambiguous Snape, edgy and unreformed.

This series starts out after Harry's Seventh Year, when Hogwarts is under siege, so this isn't underage. There are mentions of character deaths; be warned.

Title: Percy Weasley: Rogue Demon Hunter Series by Viola
Pairing: None, really; this is gen
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] viola_dreamwalk
Author Website: Viola's stories: LJ Memories

Why this must be read:
This is a charming series that is sort of a crossover with Angel the Series (more a an inspiration by Wesley's heroic journey, I think, although Lorne does make an appearance). It's a post-OotP story in which Percy has lost his job and is searching for a new path. I love the way Percy is written, and the roles of Ginny, Shacklebolt, Neville, and the various OCs are fun. The series isn't finished yet, but each of the five episodes is a pleasure to read, full of detail and characterizations that satisfy.

Percy Weasley: Rogue Demon Hunter: Episode 1, Percy Sings the Blues
Episode 2, Mad Season
Episode 3, Kings for July
Episode 4, The Long Way Back

09:41 pm Un-American by Laura Jacquez Valentine (NC-17)
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: RayK/Fraser
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] jacquez
Author Website: The Construction of Pop Culture
Why this must be read:

I like this story because we get to see a glimpse of Kowalski's life before he began working undercover. Not only do we hear about his relationship with Stella, but we also learn what kind of cop he was before the 2-7. In "Eclipse" Fraser recites Ray's commendations so we know he's a good cop, but that's the last we hear of it. This is an interesting story about the plight of a queer cop in Chicago, and the way that Ray works to help other homosexuals. There's great use of Stella, Sandor, Tony and even Ray's parents to give Ray's life pre-Fraser a more rounded feel instead of just "loved Stella, lost Stella, pined for Stella" the way a lot of stories are. Also, the Fraser in this story is the playful and hilarious side of him that we see so rarely on the show, and his interactions with Ray are spot-on.

Title: Resting Place by Vaznetti
Pairing: None
Author on LJ:Vaznetti
Author Website:"Wrestling with Proteus"

Why this must be read: A gritty story about survival is a way to describe both these shows. This author combines them with ease. Seeing the crew of Serenity try to keep secrets while in the universe of Battlestar Galactica left me wanting more. I loved the interactions between characters from both worlds.

Telling the others went just about a smoothly as Mal expected. "The President's coming here?" Kaylee squealed. "To Serenity? And Captain Apollo too?"
"Wasn't there some way to refuse?" Simon asked.
Mal shrugged. "We're not in a good position to say no to Tom Zarek. And I don't guess that you want me using, "We're worried she'll notice we're not exactly from this part of the 'verse," as our excuse."

Why this must be read:

Most fics, especially 'first time' fics, are filled with incredible hot sex, and maybe a wonderful emotional declaration of love. It's the idealized version of what we wish would happen.

This is not that fic.

Here it's awkward, weird, and not entirely what you might figure it would be. But it is wonderful, funny, and pure Logan and Veronica.
And maybe that's better then all those possible "perfect" times.
