Hullo. I’m Zed, and I’ll be driving the van for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy this month. Of course, leave it up to me to sign up for such a massively huge undertaking on the last day of November, before checking to see if anyone’s done a fandom overview for it yet. They haven’t, so now I guess that means I have to do it. Hold on to something, because it’s going to be a bit of a wild ride, and a bit long. I tried to trim it down, but somehow, that only made it longer.
( Rather long. Long and image-heavy. But mostly long. )

Hello! I'll be your driver for Diane Duane's Young Wizards series this month. If you want a refresher on the fandom, the overview is here. Since then, there has been one book published: ( A Wizard of Mars )On to the rec! Fandom: YOUNG WIZARDS Pairing: Carl Romeo/Tom Swale, Kit Rodriguez/Nita Callahan Length: 8,478 words Author on LJ: ariastarAuthor Website: ariaficWhy this must be read:"RING RING!" yelled Peach, who was obviously in one of her moods. "The future is calling!"I'm kicking off the month with a fandom favorite. Terminus balances an engaging and well-researched multi-decade errantry plot (think "casefile fic") with two how-they-got-together subplots. It also talks about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and how to choose the right college. The disparate elements don't seem like they'd work, but they do, showing the past and present of an intervention that has all the trappings of Diane Duane's writing, including intense research, oracular animals, and some very odd objects. The characters are likable and true to their canon personalities, but they also act like real people getting into relationships; they have doubts, freak out, run away, come back, and talk things through. Even if you're not a YW fan, consider giving this a read; the dry humor, clear characterization, and urgent plot will tell you everything you need to know, making this a joy to read regardless of canon familiarity. Hey there, I'm trovia and I'm going to drive the Van for the Chuck fandom this month. I actually discovered Chuck by way of browsing this comm and reading the fandom overview written by secondalto in 2008. It's still applicable, so maybe you should read it, too. Meanwhile, I have searched all the fandom for good fic to rec this month. It will feature all kinds of characters and pairings, especially but not exclusively the members of Team Bartowski. Expect quite some gen and lots of plottiness. Don't expect a lot of porn. Fandom: CHUCK Pairing: none (Chuck, Casey, Sarah) Length: ~ 7000 words Author on LJ: seperisAuthor Website: AO3 fic listWhy this must be read: In this Chuck POV fic, Chuck has been drugged, having to be saved by his team (again). It's the very first fic that occurred to me when I started thinking up recs. Everything about this story just works out - tone of voice, POV, the balance of comedy and team adventure and little bits of angst. It's a story that could have been taken right out of an episode, except that seperis put a little more thought and effort into it than can be expected from a panicking scriptwriter with an intimidating deadline. Hello, I’m fredbassett and I’m going to be driving the Van this month for the TV show Primeval. The show returns to our screens in the UK on 1st January 2011. It has pretty men and DINOSAURS! What more could anyone want? I'm primarily a slasher, but I will be reccing some gen and het, and I'll be aiming for a reasonable cross-section of fic, from series to standalones. The fandom overview can be found HERESo, here's my first rec for the month: Fandom: PRIMEVAL Pairing: None. Team Gen Fic Length: Individual episodes vary from 8,000 to 14,000 words. In total novel length. Author on LJ: reggietate , telperion_15 , fredbassett , joereaves , deinonychus_1 , lukadreaming , hestia8 , bigtitch Author Website:More fic by these authors can be found on primeval_denial Why this must be read: The two Virtual Series that have been run in primeval_denial rank amongst the most ambitious projects that the fandom has attempted – and pulled off. In the first one, eight authors collaborated to provide 11 episodes varying in length from around 8,000 to 13,000 words, and together they produced the written equivalent of an entire series that runs to a decent sized novel in length. The episodes are action packed, team based and all very much have the flavour of the show itself. If you like Primeval, you will love these! The first episode starts off with a scenario that really can’t be bettered and very definitely kicks the series off with a bang. A very big bang! If you’ve never read any Primeval fic before, this is a great place to start. The link to the boxed set of all episodes can be found HERE

Fandom: HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY Pairing: Gen Length: 400 Author on LJ: anivadAuthor Website: FFN profileWhy this must be read:This seems a really good place to start. It’s a cute little alphabet rhyme about the Guide, and probably makes a more succinct overview than the one I posted. Not much else to say about it, really. H2G2 ABCs

Hello, I am big_twinkie . During December, I will be the driver for Hot Fuzz. If you need to see the fandom overview, go here.
Fandom: HOT FUZZ Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Word Count: 4000 words Author: annlarimer Author's website: Annlarimer’s LJ: Why this must be read:This story is fun, charming, and full of the general weirdness that is Sandford. It's one of those slice of life stories, except, perhaps, the explosion part. But this is Hot Fuzz, so things will blow up...from time to time... Excerpt: When dealing with the vast distances of interstellar space, time -- and our concept of time -- starts to get tricky. The things we see in the sky are only as current as the speed of light allows. The moon we see is ten seconds old. The sun in the sky actually happened eight minutes ago. The red giant Betelgeuse marks Orion's right shoulder (his right, our left). Betelgeuse, I'm sure you know, is getting on in years, and likely to go nova as soon as the mood strikes. Light from Betelgeuse only reaches us after 500 (and a bit) years of hard slog. So bear in mind that the following sentence, while accurate, is only accurate from a particular spatiotemporal point of view:Just then, Betelgeuse exploded. Stars Fall on Sandford

The Losers is a 32-issue comic series from 2003-2006 published by DC/Vertigo, written by Andy Diggle and illustrated by Jock, who did most of the issues and all of the covers. A stylish, well-crafted political action thriller, it's now available in two graphic novels, creatively titled Book One and Book Two.
In 2010, Warner Brothers released a movie based on the comics, directed by Sylvain White and written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt. Taking a lot of its visual cues from the comics and filled with ridiculously hot actors, this is where the fandom exploded. The movie is now available on DVD.
SPOILER WARNING: This overview does have spoilers for the movie. Quite a bit of the fandom is based post-movie, so there's no way around it. However, there are no spoilers for the ending of the comics in this overview. That's something you should experience unspoiled.
