Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Methos/Byron - Methos/Byron/Duncan
Length: ~8.400 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] astolat
Author Website: Intimations
Why this must be read:

I'm plagiarizing myself a bit, here, because have recced this story all around the web *laughs*
This is an AU from the episode "The Modern Prometheus". Butterfly effect: a little change, and all went very different. In this case, Mike doesn't dies.
I feel a strange fascination for Highlander!Byron, and this story is probably the best take on him I ever read. It's hot, and I mean, really, really hot. But is not just that: we are talking [livejournal.com profile] astolat here, so the writing is, of course, astonishing, and the characters are spot on, and absolutely credible. We have fun, and angst and... did I told you about the hot sex? A reluctant Duncan, a very free Methos, a sensual Byron, what's not to like?
Something is ending here, and, maybe, something new is beginning. So, what do you think? Wanna have a taste? )

C'mon, I know you want to read Born of Fire and discover what happens next *g* This is a zine story, so, the link goes to the front page of Futures Without End, as the owners prefer. Once you are there, click on Issue III Web Edition, and the link it's gonna take you to the Index. And, as you are there take a look at the rest. You won't regret it :D

06:22 pm Jim Kirk and the Test of Thirty Days by the_arc5 (NC-17)
Fandom: STAR TREK: REBOOT
Pairing: Kirk/Spock
Length: 9,506
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] the_arc5
Author Website: at the Kirk/Spock archive
Why this must be read:

I chose this fic because it's funny, but it's not just funny. It's also sweet, and poignant, and I just love the way that Kirk doesn't hesitate to give up something he enjoys for Spock -- it's so true to the way TOS Kirk is, and I always love it when I can see essential similarities between the two Kirks. Still, this is also very much nu!Kirk, because I do think he's very well characterized.

But mostly it's funny. It's framed like a fairy tale, and the author really takes advantage of that frame -- and makes it hilarious. And the ending is awesome.
