Hi, I'm VoyCaPtive and I'll be reccing StarTrek Voyager this month. My favourite pairing is Chakotay/Paris; however, I've read some other stuff too that I'll share. I hope you's enjoy. :-) Fandom: STARTREK VOYAGER Pairing: Chakotay/Paris Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Ruth Devero's Adventures in the Slash DimensionWhy this must be read: When Tom Paris wakes up on some planet and finds his commanding officer has disappeared he knows this is going to be the first contact from hell. Tom finally finds Chakotay as he is about to be sold as a slave. Tom must think fast in order to rescue Chakotay. This is a well written story with excellent characterizations of both Tom and Chakotay. First ContactPlease don't forget to send Ruth Devero feedback.

Fandom: Star Trek: VOYAGER Pairing: Janeway/Admiral Janeway Author on LJ: projectjulieAuthor Website: babelicious.netWhy this must be read: And now for something completely different -- porn!!! This must be read because it's kinky and perverse, lusty and vicious and utterly in character. It's set mid-"Endgame," the series finale wherein Admiral Janeway returns from 26 years in the future in order to, among other things, prevent a series of events that would cause Seven of Nine's death. It's spoileriffic, but, honestly, it's so damned HOT, who CARES. Here's a Captain Janeway admitting to herself, finally, that she's in love with Seven, and an Admiral Janeway who has always been so. And so, with tools and sex toys and Borg-style accoutrements, they take each other's familiar bodies and get a little more, er, familiar. Seriously, LOOK: * "You're in my fantasies," Admiral Janeway was saying, "I don't dream of myself anymore, only you, doing the things I never allowed to happen. I imagine you making love, being in love, so that things might have turned out differently." The Admiral's hands were becoming more insistent, one slipping into her hair to hold her as the other reached for the zipper of her jacket. "You think of yourself as old, unattractive, finished, but to me your body is ripe with possibilities. It's glowing with all the chances I never took, ready to be opened in all the ways I never was."* Eating It Too

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Paris/Torres, Janeway/Chakotay Author on LJ: seperisAuthor Website: Illuminated TextWhy this must be read: Because this is what the show should have been. Jenn writes a long and fascinating look at what happens when Tom takes command of the ship under trying circumstances. She deftly and realistically explores the concepts of duty and honour and how much people will sacrifice for their crewmates. Terrible, horrible things happen to characters that we know and love; and it makes so much sense. Probably my favourite Voyager fic (though I do not hesitate to recommend any of her stories). A sequel remains, alas, a work in perpetual progress. In The Space Of Seven DaysThis is going to be my last drive-by, so I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you how much I've enjoyed sharing my favourite fic with you. Hope the ride hasn't been too bumpy.

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Janeway/Paris Author on LJ: the_emu Author Website: linked on her LJ Why this must be read: Because no matter how bad things are, they can always get worse. The Emu starts off with a horrifying premise - what if someone had survived the crash in Timeless? - and produces a harrowing story full of death and hardship and pain; and the coming together these things bring to disparate people. A beautiful, haunting piece of work. I'm linking to the entry on Jupiter Station (home of everything Janeway/Paris), because the author requests no direct linking. But you can also access the story through her website which is linked on her LJ. Absumption (scroll down, it's the first story)

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: beside the point Author on LJ: rocky_tAuthor Website: Rocky's Road to Voyager (though angelfire doesn't seem to like this site, if you act quickly you can get to the stories) Why this must be read: Because what Janeway did to Noah Lessing never did sit right. Driving a crack van has some real benefits; not only to I get to revisit old favourites, I happened across some new stories. I don't know how I managed to avoid Rocky's stuff previous to this, but I'm sure glad I found it now. I love post- Endgame stories; because getting home was only the beginning of their story. This is a remarkable look at justice - in Star Fleet courts and in people's hearts. Janeway is called to account for her actions. In Pursuit of Justice

Fandom: STARTREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Chakotay/7 Author on LJ: ? Author Website: Djinn's LairWhy this must be read: Because it reminds us that pretty things can hurt. Spare and elegant writing lets us into 7's mind. And, you know what? She's maybe not so hard to understand after all. Alone

Fandom: STARTREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Paris/Torres/Tuvok Author on LJ: ? Author Website: Meandering With Jamelia Through the Delta QuadrantWhy this must be read: Because smut doesn't need to be insightful and touching, but isn't it nice when it is? If Star Trek has taught us anything, it's this: if you don't have sex you'll die. Ahh, pon farr; you wonderful plot device. But, oh, Jamelia does it so well. Blending hot, hot, hot sex with real empathy for established relationships and the customs of different races. Quid Pro Quo

Title: Three Planets Left of Risa by August (R) Pairing: Janeway/Neelix, Janeway/Chakotay, Janeway/Torres Author on LJ: ? Author Website: (The Archipelago of Angst) AugustWhy this must be read: Janeway/Neelix - and it works! It's probably stretching things a bit to have this as my collision drive-by, but it does have Picard for a nanosecond, and it's so lovely. I especially love the bit about the universal translator and, uh, compatibility. Elegant and cryptic. Kathryn Janeway back in the Alpha Quadrant - things are different, now. She's different now. Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Tom Paris/B'Elanna Torres Author on LJ: ?? Author Website: Barbara's Voyager FictionWhy this must be read: Because it should be true. Barbara wrote a silly, romantic, lovely little fantasy. In many ways it makes perfect sense of the sometimes nonsensical Paris/Torres relationship. I just want to hug it. Is that so wrong? The Con Game

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Chakotay/Janeway, Paris/Torres, 7/EMH Author on LJ: ? Author Website: Jemima's ChevronWhy this must be read: Because it is lyrical and stately. Because, even though the author bills it as an 'all-Tom-all-the-time' story, it provides real insight into the downtime of the entire crew. Because it's Chakotay/Janeway, and you won't often find me recommending that. Jemima has caused me a bit of dismay, because I realise that three of the fics I have on my list are written by her. Since I promised myself that I'd only rec each writer once, I had to sit down and think hard about my favourite. The Dance, at least for today, won out. Written in the form of a letter from Tom Paris to an alien dignitary this fic explores the sequelae of the episode Tsunkatse. It's measured phrases highlight the romanticism without becoming maudlin; and, as I said above, I think that it illustrates the day to day life of the crew. The Dance

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: none Author on LJ: ? Author Website:Maisie's Home PageWhy this must be read: Because I like to see my favourite characters in pain, and Tom suffers so beautifully. Janeway demotes and imprisons Tom during 30 Days, punishments far outweighing the crime in my opinion. I've often wondered how they managed to sustain any kind of working relationship after that. This fic helps explore some of the issues raised - then ignored - in the show. Acid Truths

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Tom Paris/B'Elanna Torres, though that's beside the point Author on LJ: ?? Author Website:D'A Green RoomWhy this must be read: Shattered was an amazing episode that triggered an outpouring of fic - most of them of the 'what if Janeway/Torres/Seven/Paris had been affected instead of Chakotay?' school. While there were some very enjoyable stories written with that premise, D'Alaire twisted the episode in another direction, managing to produce an AU that stayed beautifully within the episode. She gives us two decades of Voyager from Naomi Wildman's POV. Grim and funny and beautiful. Temporality

Hi, I'm Elena and I'll be your driver through the Delta Quadrant for October. I've got a fangirl crush on Tom Paris, and I'm going to try to spread the love. Here's my first rec - please be gentle. Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Tom Paris/B'Elanna Torres Author on LJ: hawkmoth (P.L. Heyes, aka DangerMom); don't know about M. Kelley Author Website:DangerMom's ArchiveWhy this must be read: funny and hot It's hard to chose which story by DangerMom to rec - she's wonderful - but this is one of my favourites. Written after the fifth season episode Someone to Watch Over Me, it's the Paris/Torres relationship as seen, and heard, by their neighbours. Funny and true to character and scorchingly hot. Deck 9, Section 12

Welcome to the Delta Quadrant, where weird is part of the job. Star Trek: Voyager is the fourth instalment of the Star Trek franchise, and my personal favourite. I'll wait for the boos and hisses to die down before I continue. ( on with the show )

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Janeway / Chakotay / Paris Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: L. R. Bowen’s Fan FictionWhy this must be read: This story is light, humorous, and sexy as hell. It starts with the cliché of three officers, trapped by unfriendly aliens on a cold planet. Of course, without clothes. Throw in some hurt/comfort, a number of daring escapes and brushes with death, and some great sex scenes in just about any combination of the characters that you could want, and you get a great story to curl up with on a crisp autumn night. The developing relationships among the three characters, coupled with a bit of intriguing backstory, make this a much better story than the typical sex-romp, which I suppose it could be confused with. The author describes this work as “an adventure story with a strong tongue-in-cheek element and a highly sensual atmosphere”, and I think that description is quite apt. The Snow Queen

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: mainly Chakotay / Paris, but includes various others Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Siubhan’s House of HorrorWhy this must be read:The first story in this multi-part Voyager epic is a classic, at least in my opinion. It has a typical set-up: Chakotay and Paris stranded together on a planet, with some hurt/comfort thrown in, but with a twist. And boy what a twist! The characters and backstories of Chakotay and Paris are developed well, and the plot and supporting characters are also quite good. But the best things about this story are the plausible reactions to a quite unthinkable situation. The story continues as Chakotay and Paris return to Voyager and find their relationship challenged by their return to their previous routine. There’s an alternate ending to part 1 that takes the story in a completely different direction, and is quite interesting. The main story then continues in parts 2, 3, and 4, with an epilogue as well. Well-written, funny, and sexy, this series will keep you going through various twists and turns, and the payoff is well worth it. Unfortunately the stories are no longer available on the author’s website, so I’ve linked to them individually below from the main Star Trek archive. Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Janeway / Seven Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Novel ExpectationsWhy this must be read: This is an amazing series of stories, spanning 5 seasons of 10 stories each, that begins in the middle of Season 4 of the Voyager series as televised. While it generally follows the events of various episodes, at least at first, it also considers the growing relationship between Janeway and Seven, and how they would react to events. So it definitely veers into AU territory as time goes on. These stories are well-written, very funny, and feature very hot sex scenes as well (just wait for the introduction of the “accessory” in later stories). They also read like an authentic lesbian relationship – lots of emotional confusion and processing takes place, but in an enjoyable way. In fact, these stories are so good that at some point I stopped watching Voyager altogether and just read these stories instead as they were posted! So I can’t attest to how well they match canon in later episodes, but this also shows how well they stand alone for folks who have a vague familiarity with the Voyager crew and plot, but didn’t watch the show regularly. There’s also a sequel series, in progress, called “Millennium”, that follows the future adventures of Janeway, Seven, and crew after they successfully return to the Alpha Quadrant. Stories are posted to this series on an occasional basis. Just Between and Millennium

Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER Pairing: Paris/? Author on LJ: killabeezAuthor Website: Killa's Adventures in MelodramaWhy this must be read:If you've read any Star Trek slash fiction, then you've probably read this one since it's a classic. Killa's writing is always skillful and her sex scenes hot, but it's the revelation in this one that makes it memorable. ( Want to know more? )Ghost in the Machine(Star Trek was probably my first fandom - or at least it was a close second to Doctor Who - and I watched it from the original series. When I came online, it was the first fanfic I read, and where I discovered what slash meant. My favourite series to watch was Deep Space Nine, but I like reading in all the series, so this will probably be an odd mixture of recs!)

Fandom: THE SENTINEL Pairing: Gen series. No pairings per se. Author on LJ: I don't believe so. Author Website: Cindy CombsCrossovered with: Charmed, Nash Bridges, MacGyver, Voyager, ER, just to name a few. Why this series must be read: I love AUs with big, juicy, plots. I adore well-written stories where an author creates such a convincing world that you are simply glued to your computer screen until the end of the story and then you pray that there's a sequel and rejoice when you discover there is one. Roachia is an AU set in the distant future. Settlers looking for a better life leave the overcrowded Earth in search of a new home and they find it on Roachia. Unfortunately, Roachia is populated by large bug like creatures. The Roachians want the land the humans occupy and the humans have no where else to go. War ensues. In an act of terrorism, the Roachians destroy Mountain Center, which was the training center for Sentinel and Guides. Every day the humans lose a bit more ground. As the story starts off, Captain James Ellison and his team have been captured by the Roachians while trying to get civilians out of the occupied territory. They are placed in a basement where they find a tortured young man. Evidence indicates that they were trying to extract information from him, but what could they want from someone so young? This may not be a crossover in the true sense. The author has taken a lot of known television characters, kept their personalities and put them in this world. It's a great deal of fun trying to pick them out. While this story is not slash, you owe it to yourself to give it a read. Fandom: TREK FRANCHISE (VOYAGER) Pairing: Chakotay/Tom Paris Author on LJ: N/A Author Website: Amirin's C/P Slash PageWhy this must be read: Amirin’s written tons of great Voyager fic and most all of it is centered around Tom Paris, an all around Fly guy. Tom’s the guy who drew me into the Voyager fandom and Amirin has so many great stories about him that I had a horrible time choosing just one. I eventually choose one that makes me go *wibble* inside everytime I read it. The pain Tom goes through during the story makes my chest ache. I love how he’s able to turn all that pain around and make it useful. The addition of Parin to the story tends to leave me squeeful. Parry

Fandom: STAR TREK FRANCHISE (VOYAGER) Pairing: N/A Author on LJ: don’t know Author Website: Sadly it’s gone Why this must be read: This is a wonderfully compelling story. The author tells a tale about how different people deal with disease. When our favourite pilot, Tom Paris, contracts an AIDS like virus we all learn that the prejudices/differences between Starfleet and the Maquis run deeper then any of the crew suspected. I love this story and I come back to it time and again because I think it really highlights the great things about the characters and shows that the Starfleet way isn’t always the best way. Be aware Trekiverse archive links are subject to random changes. Retrovirus

Title: Just a Guy Series by ZorroRojo Pairing: Paris/Chakotay, Duncan/Methos Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: unknown Why this must be read:When I first wandered into the Trek fandom the Just A Guy series was the must read crossover of the fandom. It was one of the first Trek crossovers I ever read and it's the one that always comes to mind first when I try to think of Trek crossovers. Just a Guy is a series of five long, well-written stories that documents the ups and downs of four very different yet strangely similar guys. These are stories that you can sink your teeth into so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to read. ( A few pictures )1) Just a Guy2) Look What We Found3) What Now?4) Crossing the Line pt.15) Crossing the Line pt. 2eta: My image service is being cranky. I shall fix anything that looks weird as soon as it get's over itself.

Fandom: HIGHLANDER/STAR TREK Pairing: none author's webpage: kevinrobnett.comWhy this must be read:A novel-length crossover set well into the future (some few years before "Star Trek: Voyager," I think), "A Dish Served Cold" sees Richie having made a place for himself in Starfleet, and Immortals spread out among the stars along with the rest of humanity. (Oh yeah, that "Archangel" mess at the end of season 5? Ignore it.) And of course, all the problems of Immortality, human-Klingon relations, and deep-space exploration combine to cause trouble in the good life Richie has made for himself. Also featuring Methos and Duncan, an appearance or two by Lwaxana Troi, Sarek, and some other familiar Trek faces. "ADSC" is densely plotted and filled with flashbacks. It has a slight tendency to "Forrest Gump"-ify Richie, but the details and tone make it feel like a true piece of Star Trek, and Richie's various decisions and motivations are an excellent extension of "The Messenger."
